Within TTO we clearly differentiate between a “spin-off” and a “spin-out”:

• a spin-off is a company formed having Erasmus MC participation as a shareholder, whereas
• a spin-out is a company that is established with the goal to develop and further commercializing Erasmus MC’s IP, but without Erasmus MC as shareholder.
